As 2025 comes to a close, our CEO Mark Rushton has recorded his end-of-year reflections on what has been a significant year for COMET. This is our first full year trading since the rebrand, and while it's had its challenges, it's also been a year of real growth and progress. Mark wanted to take a moment to look back, say thank you, and share what's on the horizon for 2026.

A year of growth despite challenges
Mark is honest about the challenges. Market conditions in Aberdeen have been tough, and the energy sector is going through a difficult transition. But COMET has continued to grow. We've welcomed new customers from new sectors, and taken our products and services further afield than ever before.

That growth is down to the people we work with. Customers old and new, partners and our team. We're grateful for the support.

Partnerships supporting global expansion
Two partnerships get a special mention in Mark's message.
Arcadis, our implementation partner in North America, has helped us develop exciting new projects this year. We expect those to grow significantly in 2026.
Intelex, our technology partner in Toronto, is still a young partnership but already showing incredible momentum. Together we're working to align our roadmaps with what the safety management community actually needs, and to build smarter integrations that give organisations a single point of truth.

What's coming in 2026

Mark shares three things he expects to define the year ahead:
1. The year of useful, safe AI
We've spent seven years developing safe, practical AI. In 2026, that work will show up across COMET in ways that make a real difference. Smarter analytics. Tools that work with you, not just for you. AI that can help you act, not just inform. Not AI for the sake of it. AI that actually helps.

2. Learning from serious investigations
We continue to investigate major incidents on behalf of organisations around the world. That hard-won learning is now shaping new tools and approaches to help our customers build real investigation and RCA competence.

3. Smarter integrations
The future isn't just about connecting systems. It's about systems that genuinely work together to create unified analytics and a single source of truth. That's where we're heading.

From Reactive to Proactive

This is the shift that drives everything we do.

We're not interested in helping organisations tick boxes after something goes wrong. We want to help them see problems before they become failures. To stop repeat incidents that should never have happened twice. To turn data into foresight.

COMET is moving further into predictive, proactive failure prevention. It's what our customers need. It's what keeps people safe.

In Mark's words:

"It's going to be another nail in the coffin of repeat failure for organisations that choose to put their faith and confidence in COMET."
