Verdantix has published its Green Quadrant: EHS Software (2026), an independent benchmark of 23 of the most prominent EHS software providers. The report names COMET as a strategic partner to Intelex for advanced incident investigation and root cause analysis. Intelex is named a Leader. COMET appears throughout the report, both in the Intelex assessment and as an example of how AI is reshaping the EHS market.
About the Green Quadrant
Verdantix builds each Green Quadrant from detailed vendor questionnaires, live product demonstrations and customer interviews. Safety leaders and procurement teams use it to compare platforms and build shortlists. That makes it one of the most closely read documents in EHS software.
Where COMET features
Investigation and RCA within Intelex. Verdantix names COMET as a strategic partner to Intelex for advanced incident investigation and root cause analysis. The partnership gives Intelex customers investigation and RCA capabilities that turn incident data into prevention intelligence.
Domain-specific AI partnerships. Verdantix names the collaboration between Intelex and COMET for AI data analytics as a notable example of a new generation of domain-specific AI partnerships in EHS. The report explains the trend. The cost of model development, specialist talent and constant innovation often exceeds what one vendor can fund alone. Verdantix expects partnership activity to keep growing as a result.
AI-generated analytics. Verdantix assesses emerging AI capabilities across the market. For AI-generated dashboards that users query in natural language and build on demand, it lists Intelex, via the COMET partnership, among the early adopters.
Incident management within Intelex. The report credits the partnership with strengthening Intelex's incident management. It points to two things: advanced investigation workflows, and AI-powered analytics that surface trends across internal and third-party data through a conversational interface. COMET is also named among Intelex's strategic technology partners.
COMET investigation methodology built into enterprise EHS
Verdantix observes that core EHS capabilities are converging. Most platforms now record and manage incidents well, so vendors are looking for differentiation in AI, connected data and partnerships.
Understanding why an incident happened has always been where COMET focuses. Our methodology and root cause taxonomy were developed by career investigators, drawing on more than 400 years of combined investigative expertise. Through the partnership, that methodology sits inside Intelex as Intelex Investigations & RCA, powered by COMET.
The two systems connect via API, with single sign-on between them. Teams create and risk assess incidents in Intelex, then investigate them in COMET. The investigation report and assigned actions flow back into Intelex for tracking. No one re-keys data at any stage.
Inside the investigation, COMET's built-in human factors analysis takes investigators past "human error" to the organisational conditions behind an incident. The coded taxonomy classifies root causes the same way across every site, so systemic patterns become visible across the whole portfolio. COMET Lite extends the same approach to lower-level events, which lets organisations roll structured investigation out more widely.
Existing Intelex customers can add the capability to their current environment, and implementation typically takes weeks. McDermott, a joint Intelex and COMET customer, said COMET "was the only solution on the market that offered those outcomes."
COMET also integrates with other major EHS platforms, so organisations can bring the same methodology into the systems they already use.

This builds on earlier recognition from Verdantix. In March 2026, Verdantix assessed COMET AI Assistant ahead of its launch. Aleks Milligan, Analyst, AI Applied at Verdantix, described it as "a thoughtfully designed AI application."
Recent AI launches from COMET
The Green Quadrant arrives in a significant year for AI at COMET.
COMET AI Assistant launched in April 2026. It is the first AI capability built specifically for incident investigation and root cause analysis, and it works at two levels.
Inside the investigation, it drafts timelines and proposes causal factors as evidence comes in. This reduces documentation time by more than 30%, so investigators can spend that time on analysis.
Across the investigation portfolio, teams ask questions in plain language. The Assistant surfaces the systemic patterns and recurring factors that manual review misses.
Every output is a suggestion, and the investigator makes the final decision. COMET AI Assistant does not use OpenAI or any public large language model, and client data stays within the client environment. Explore COMET AI Assistant.
COMET Signals 2.0 is now available. It is an intelligence layer that sits above the HSEQ systems an organisation already runs, with no migration and no change to how teams record their work.
Users ask questions across their safety, quality, environmental, security and business risk registers. Each answer is checked against their own records before it reaches the screen. When the data cannot support an answer, Signals says so instead of guessing.
Findings then move onto Decision Boards and become owned actions with a target date and a cost. Signals then measures whether the indicator moved once the work was done. Signals 2.0 is Azure-native, DPIA assessed and aligned to ISO 42001. Explore COMET Signals 2.0.
What's next for COMET for investigations & RCA
AI is one part of our roadmap. We continue to invest in the wider COMET platform, guided by feedback from the teams who use it every day. Recent and upcoming enhancements focus on making investigations faster to complete and easier to act on. They include new AI support, a more intuitive analysis experience, and clearer guidance that helps teams assess events consistently. A dedicated People and HR incident type brings COMET's structured approach to people-related events, and administrators will have more control over how the platform fits their organisation.
Further enhancements are on the roadmap. We will share them with our user community and the wider HSEQ community as they become available. To find out how these enhancements could support your investigation programme, book a discovery call with a COMET advisor.
Congratulations to Intelex
Congratulations to the Intelex team on being named a Leader in this year's assessment. Verdantix highlights Intelex's focus on high-risk industries, its configurable platform and its partner ecosystem. We are proud to be part of that ecosystem.

AI development beyond the COMET suite
This year's launches build on nine years of AI development within COMET solutions. Over that time, our team has built up deep knowledge of how AI behaves on safety data. That includes free-text incident narratives, inconsistent classification, and the need for every output to stand up to scrutiny from investigators, auditors and regulators.
COMET does not only build SaaS products. Our technology team also designs and develops bespoke solutions for other organisations, built around their own processes and data. For organisations with more complex needs, our AI Agentic Services deliver workflow automation and AI decision support shaped around specific strategic goals.
The team building this AI works alongside career investigators and HSEQ specialists. That makes COMET a development partner for organisations that want AI built for HSEQ, whether or not they use the COMET suite. Explore COMET technology services.
